Choosing the right contractor is an important step when it comes time to replacing your heating or air conditioning system. License
Check to make sure the contractor’s license is current and if they are a member of a local or national organization.

Better Business Bureau
Are they members of the Better Business Bureau? Check the company history on www.bbb.org to see if they are reputable. It’s not only important to see how the company is rated, but also to see how the company follows up after something goes wrong.

Ask for references
Customers that have used the contractor before will usually be willing to share their experience with you.

Maintenance Plans and Warranties
Ask about maintenance plans and the different warranties and guarantees
Warranties can vary, so make sure you are fully aware of the warranties and guarantees you are getting with the equipment you choose.

Understand and Get a Written Contract
If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Be wary of contractors that don’t want to give you a signed, written contract specifying your warranties.
